The next James Bond sequel, tentatively titled Bond 23, has been put on hold due to MGM’s financial troubles, according to Variety. This is based on a statement from EON Productions heads Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli:
Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on ‘Bond 23′ indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of ‘Bond 23.’
No director was attached but a group of writers had worked out the script and the Bond himself, Daniel Craig had been stated as saying the film will start shooting late this year. MGM put itself up for sale in November and has been working and sorting out its future with debt holders.
