Yet another comic book adaptation appears to be heading to the big screen. This time it is a adaptation of Matt Wanger's "Mage: The Hero Discovered." First printed back in 1984, this first part in a 3-part trilogy story tells the story of a young man named Kevin Matchstick who gains powers through a magic baseball bat while attempting to defeat an evil being called the Umbra Sprite. As the story goes along we learn that our hero has basically become a new incarnation of King Arthur and the bat is the embodiment of the famous sword Excalibur.
The project was picked up by "Watchman" producer Lloyd Levin who will finance the development and production of the movie.
"It has always been a favorite book of mine," said Levin, whose comicbook-to-bigscreen credits also include the "Hellboy" films. "It's one of the great untapped comicbooks from the 80's renaissance that also spawned "Watchman" and "Batman: Dark Knight.""
This project was previously under development at Spyglass and Zack Snyder was said to be directing it. A writer to pen the big-screen adaptation is expected to be announced soon by Levin.
