ThunderCats Mega Scale Classic Tygra by UltimateToyCollector.

One of my fondest memories as a kid is watching Thundercats and playing with the toys with my cousins and friends. I mean toys in the 80's don't compare to what we have now but they were still awesome. So as a longtime fan of Thundercats, I'm glad to see Mezco Toyz continue their Mega Scale Thundercats line by giving us the level-headed warrior... The one Lion-O often turns to as second-in-command and for counsel... The one and only Tygra!

They've already done Lion-O, a rereleased special two pack of Lion-O that includes Snarf, Cheetara, Panthro, Mumm-ra, and a special two pack of Mumm-ra that included his mummified version.

All of the Mega-Scale figures range in height around 14" tall. Tygra comes in at about 13 1/2" tall with bent knees. Overall all the figures are scaled nicely with each other.

Tygra comes packaged in large window box showing off the figure. The package isn't too fancy but personalized with a classic illustration of Tygra on the front, and a picture of the actual figure posed on the back of the package. Tygra is secured inside the package with several twisty ties and his bolo whip is secure behind him.

These figures are rotocast, which means they are largely hollow. Mezco has become known for their amazing rotocast figures, ranging from Thundercats to Bugs Bunny to Gigantor to Chucky and Hellboy. Here you have a good ball jointed neck, rotating hinge shoulders, cut elbows, ball hips, and cut calves. The range of movement is reasonable considering the lack of articulation. With bent knees he stands about 13 1/2" tall. The crouched stance works well with the rest of the line. The right hand is sculpted to hold his bolo whip, while the left is sculpted into a fist. I would have loved to have extra hands included with this figure.

The figure has just enough detail for a larger scale figure. You could ask for a little more definition in the muscles or texture to the fur, but overall it's pretty solid. I do love the facial expression however, and the teeth are very impressive and clean.

One thing I must say is that Mezco overall has great quality control. This is imperative with such a large figure because paint smears will be highly noticeable. I think the head is the most impressive part of this figure. The black strips on the head, the eyes, and the teeth look great, with clean edges and consistent coverage. The colors are nice and bright. I did notice a few slight smudges on the body paint, but these issues are minor. Overall this figure has very good paint applications.

Tygra only has one accessory but honestly that's all he needs. He comes with his signature bolo whip. The entire length of the whip had a thick, heavy wire inside which makes it perfect for posing. I posed the whip in a variety of poses and the sturdy wire maintained without wilting. The accessory definitely gives this figure that extra playability that it needs. As with all figures when you first get them, be careful not to damage the paint on the right hand or even break the handle of the whip trying to get it in the hand. The hand is a little tight so work it in slowly.

Tygra is a great figure, well worth the price, and is an awesome addition to the Mega Scale Thundercats line up. I'm definitely hoping to see the remaining core characters get released in the near future.
