The Awakening - US Domestic Trailer

Reported by Outsiders - 03:48 PM 2012.06.29

The US trailer has been released for the UK supernatural thriller "The Awakening" from co-writer and director Nick Murphy. Set in post-World War I England, the Gothic tale centers on a no-nonsense ghost debuker (Rebecca Hall) hired to investigate an all-boys boarding school where sightings have been reported of a spirit resembling a recent deceased student. As the mystery unfolds, she not only begins questioning her own ideas of death but also starts to believe the place is truly haunted. Co-starring Dominic West (TV's The Wire) as a concerned teacher, the film hits stateside on August 17th.

The Awakening is Set in London in 1921, Florence Cathcart (REBECCA HALL), author of the popular book "Seeing Through Ghosts," has devoted her career to exposing claims of the supernatural as nothing but hoaxes. Haunted by the recent death of her fiance, she is approached by Robert Mallory (DOMINIC WEST) to investigate the recent death of a student at the all-boys boarding school where he teaches. When students at the school report sightings of the young boy's ghost, she decides to take on the case. Initially, the mystery surrounding the ghost appears nothing more than a schoolboy prank, but as Florence continues to investigate events at the school, she begins to believe that her reliance on science may not be enough to explain the strange phenomenon going on around her.

The Awakening stars Rebecca Hall, Dominic West
