Apes Conquer The Box Office This Weekend

20th Century Fox' "Rise of the Planet Of The Apes" opened this weekend at number 1 with a estimated take of $54 million, knocking last week's winners "The Smurfs" to number 2 with an estimated take of $21 million and "Cowboys & Aliens" to the 3 spot with a estimated take of $15.7 million.

The new Jason Batemen & Ryan Reynolds comedy "The Change-Up" opened this week in the 4 spot with a estimated take of $13.5 million while Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger" rounds out the top 5 this week with a estimated take of $13 million.

The ten estimated top-producing motion pictures for the weekend, per data collected as of Sunday, August 7, 2011 include:
