'Walking Dead' Frank Darabont Stepping Down As Showrunner

Reported by Outsiders - 08:33 PM 2011.07.26
Frank Darabont, the creator, executive producer and director of AMC's smash hit "The Walking Dead", is stepping down as showrunner of the series and maybe off the show completely.

Darabont who has been with the show since the start has never quite adjusted to the grind of producing a TV series as he comes from doing feature films and it all may becoming overwhelming for him.

Glen Mazzara, exective producer and Darabonts number two guy may step in as showrunner for the season and none of this has effected the scheduling for the 2nd season and still set to premiere on October 16th.

Darabont was on hand for "Walking Dead's" Comic-Con panel just this past Friday alongside fellow executive producers Robert Kirkman, on whose graphic novel the series is based, and Gale Anne Hurd.
