Fast Five Races To Number 1 At The Box Office

Universal's latest addition to the Fast & The Furious franchise "Fast Five" which stars Vin Diesel & Dwayne Johnson opens at number 1 at the box office this weekend with an estimated take of $83.6 million.

"Rio" which had held the number 1 spot for two weeks in a row fell to number 2 this weekend with an estimated take of $14.4 million and Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family dropped to number 3 with an estimated take of $10 million.

The Reese Witherspoon & Robert Pattinson romance drama "Water for Elephants" comes in at number 4 with an estimated take of $9.1 million and Disney's new high school comedy "Prom" rounds out the top 5 this weekend with a estimated take of $5 million.

The ten estimated top-producing motion pictures for the weekend, per data collected as of Sunday, May 1, 2011 include:

1. Fast Five: $83,630,000
2. Rio: $14,400,000
3. Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family: $10,050,000
4. Water for Elephants: $9,125,000
5. Prom: $5,000,000
6. Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil: $4,140,000
7. Soul Surfer: $3,300,000
8. Insidious: $2,687,000
9. Hop: $2,557,000
10. Source Code: $2,532,000
