EW had a chance to sit down with "X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn to talk about the upcoming "X" film that is due out in theaters on June 3 from 20th Century Fox. In the interview, Vaughn talks about how the film will take place in the 60's showing us the beginnings of Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr AKA Magneto (Michael Fassbender) friendship and eventual schism that drives them to become bitter enemies.
Vaughn goes as far as to compare the movie to a James Bond film and more specifically says Magneto is like 007 with superpowers.
"The best way of describing it is X-Men meets Bond, with a little bit of Thirteen Days thrown in for good measure. It’s set in the ’60s, and I basically molded a young Magneto on a young Sean Connery. He’s the ultimate spy — imagine Bond, but with superpowers."
